A Rishi named ‘ Saubhari’, took many forms to enjoy the materialistic wealth. Whereas, EmperumAn manifested himself in many divine abodes to enjoy his devotees. 
AzhvAr, after explaining about the benefits he attained through the mantropadesam and the greatness of the abodes of nara -NArAyanA where it was implemented, he sought of decided to settle down.  Having other plans for AzhvAr, EmperumAn wanted him to visit other kshEtrams, starting from  SHALAGRAMAM and therefore revealed himself to AzhvAr to begin his journey.

988. Lord rAma (chakravarti tirumagan) aided by bow and arrow, went past the dense forest habitated with deers, elephants and horses. After building a bridge with mountainous rocks (sethubandhan) across the ocean, he reached the victory yielding battle ground and quelled all ten heads of the demon king rAvaNa, who was bestowed with the meritorious sword by lord shiva, who ruled the fortified Lanka.

989. Lord rAma, exercised his sharp arrows to dissolve the rAkshasA clan that congregated along with the chaturanga army constituting the elephantry, cavalry, chariotry and infantry within fortified Lanka.

990. Lord NArAyanA, with the tumultuous oceans, great mountains, concept of time, entities of the eight direction, the moon, the sun and the darkness stood as the foundation or substratum. He wields the victorious and resplendent discus/chakkaram (venDRi viral Azhi) on his right hand. He is the master of brahmA and all the dEvAs.

991. Having ‘tiruooragam’, as one of his abode, Lord Purushothaman, who reclines in tirukkuDandai, bending the ends of the bow and showing his valour shattered the army of the rAkshasAs, incapable to comprehend the might they have to oppose, when once Karan came to battle against him. He is the one who resides in ‘tiruppErnagar’, surrounded by the perennial Cauvery. He is the one known by thousand names that reflect his divine attributes (kalyana gunam).

992. EmperumAn, through iLaya perumAL, severed the nose of soorpanaka who came barging and bellowing, such that she screamed opening her cave like mouth. He is the lord of the dEvAs, wielding the bright chakra in his hand. To protect the cowherds, he lifted the ‘govardhana’ mountain to the witness of IndrA’s foes when he initiated the torrential downpour.

993. Taking the guise of a mother, when the demoness pootanA came with an intention to kill lord baby krishna, he sucked her life out and swallowed it with his divine lips . He also swallowed the curd set by mother YashOdA along with the  churned butter. 

He who is affluent in all ways and doesn’t have to take alms, took the sacred form of dwarf vAmana,  and upon asking and receiving three measures of land from king mahAbali, emerged gigantically  measuring  all the seven lokAs. 

My dear heart, reach shAlagrAmam that is the permanent abode of this almighty hued like the kAyam flower [Kayampoo (Memecylon Malabaricum)~iron wood flower. SHALAGRAMAM ADAI NENJE! (6)

994.Taking the horrifying form of Narasimha, that petrifies  the enemy rAksasAs, sarvESwaran, tore apart the chest of HiraNyan furiously. 

This lord resides within all elements as antharyAmi, namely the sun, moon, the space, the air, the fire, mountains , oceans, fire, all the worlds surrounded by water .

My dear heart, reach shAlagrAmam that is the abode of the lord who dwells as antharyami within every thing.  SHALAGRAMAM ADAI NENJE!(7)

995. Adorning himself with a garland made of skull from the deceased (vEndAr enbum) and smearing himself with the ashes of the dead (sudu nIRum meyyil pUsik), lord shiva wandered around all the lokAs, in despair seeking help, to remove the stuck brahma kabAlam that had holes and could never be filled by anyone, from his hand that he acquired on account of a curse. He finally went to sarvEshwaran and pleaded..

“My swAmi, my saviour (en EndhAy!), please get this curse rid off me”. That very moment, he got rid of his curse, when you sprinkled the nectarous water from your chest. 

My dear heart, reach shAlagrAmam that is the eternal abode of this lord, surrounded by sandle woods groves. SHALAGRAMAM ADAI NENJE! (8)

996.An assemblage of srivaishnavAs, ever immersed in Bagavath kainkaryam (toNDAm inamum), the nithyasoories (imaiyOr), the Brahmins who wear two strands of sacred thread on their chest, all approach the lord of this ksEtram discretely, pleading him, “Oh!, lord who govern the entire universe, protect us, we who are your devotees”. 

This lord resides here in the picturesque shAlagrAmam, where bees hovering groves along with water bodies are found all over the surroundings. The kayal fish of the paddy fields leaps and rejoice as the cool lotus flower blooms. 

My dear heart, reach this place called ‘shAlagrAmam’.

997. All wise people, who wish to rule paramapadam, the abode of the nithyasoories, chant the thousand names of the lord, who is the supreme ruler. If that becomes impossible, then take all efforts to sing these ten garland of songs set to tune by kaliyan the king of 

Tirumangai, surrounded by clouds written about the lord residing in sAlakrAmam, where tArA birds are found everywhere. (10)
