 NAYCHIYAR TIRUMOZHI

This is the second Prabandam rendered by the one and only lady AzhvAr ANDAL, out of her two contribution and placed as the fourth Prabandam of MudalAyiram in the entire compilation. 

This Prabandam portrays the longing (விரக தாபம்) of the lady love who is separated from her lover. As the duo goes

NAYAN (nArAyaNan) - NAYCHCHI (AndAl)

As it is the divine rendition of nAychchi, it is known as “nAchiyar tirumozhi”

ANDAL is considered as the embodiment of Bhoomi PiraaTTi. 

Even after revealing her utmost bakthi to the Lord, she finds that, He does not appear before her to fulfil her wishes and so in her distress she goes to the extent of getting help from kAmadevan (lord of love).

For the doubt that arises, whether praying to a subordinate deity is acceptable as a staunch devotee of Lord nArAyNa, who are referred as “ மறந்தும் புறந்தொழா மாந்தர்”, [nAnmugan tiruvandAdhi - 68(2449) ], the convincing answer by our poorvAchAryAs goes , “ it is acceptable, as  the object to be attained is so precious, I.e the Lord himself”. ( விஷய வைலக்‌ஷண்யம்). 

The perseverance of her bakthi that leads to parama bakthi in attaining her Lord is depicted beautifully in all these songs.
